Gas prices are at an all time high these days
and they are not expected to drop anytime soon. With the average
price of $2.20 to $2.30 per gallon everyone can use to save
some money at the gas pump and the gasoline companies certainly
aren’t giving out any discounts. The only way to save
at the pump is with a gas credit card. Many consumers are
quickly catching on to this new way of purchasing their gasoline
and enjoying the savings.
By using a gas credit card to purchase your gas you could
save from 5% up to 10% per gallon every time you fuel up.
At $2.20 per gallon with a discount of 10%, that would drop
the price down to less than $2.00 a gallon. After a month’s
worth of gassing up, the savings can really add up. In addition
to receiving a big discount on your gas purchases, many of
the gas credit cards also give a discount on your other (non-gas)
purchases as well.
How does it work? Depending on what credit card company you
go with, you may receive a rebate check in the mail or most
commonly you will receive a credit on your credit card statement
for the amount of the discount on your total gas purchases
for the month. If you pay your gas credit card off every month
then you would pay no interest and the savings can really
benefit your monthly budget.
What are the options? There are many different companies
that offer gas discount cards. Some of the major companies
like Chase and Discover offer a gas credit card that you can
use at any gas station and still receive a discount. Then
there are gas cards offered straight from the gasoline companies
like Shell or BP that you can only use at those specific gas
companies. Some people are loyal gas customers and only purchase
one brand of gas and others are not so choosey. So depending
on your gas purchasing habits will help determine the best
gas credit card for you.
